Here on the Bright Side of Government, we’re continuing to have a really great dialogue about how social media is changing government, politics, and citizen engagement at the state and local level. And last week was an important milestone for us as we launched Gov2Social, a social media directory for state and local governments. In case you missed it or if you’re just wondering about the significance of the site, here are some of the top stories that covered the news:
- O’Reilly Radar, “Gov 2.0 Week in Review” -- Following the introduction of Townhall, Microsoft launched Gov2Social, a directory of government social media accounts that uses Silverlight and the Azure cloud computing platform.
- Government Computer News, “Microsoft unveils social media directory for government” -- Microsoft this week announced Gov2Social , a social media directory Web site for state and local governments.
- TechPresident, “Microsoft's Move Towards We-Gov Continues” -- Yesterday, Microsoft launched a state-by-state directory of the social media accounts of public officials and agencies at the local and state level.
- Emergency Management, “Gov2Social Launched—Your Path to Social Media Information” -- Microsoft is trying to get into the social media game. I've written about Microsoft Vine before which is their own product, but now this week they launched a Gov2Social web site.
- Government Technology, “Microsoft Introduces Social Media Directory for State and Local Government” -- Announced and launched Tuesday, April 27, the Gov2Social website built on Windows Azure has a map where users can search state-by-state for the social media platforms of elected officials, state government agencies, cities, towns and counties.
- Cops 2.0, “Gov2Social: Agencies’ new one stop shop” -- Researching social media use by other police departments – but don’t have the time to troll through the Twitter lists or Facebook pages? Check out Gov2Social, the new service from Microsoft’s Bright Side of Government.
- CivSource, “Microsoft releases Gov2Social, a social directory for state & local” -- Today, Microsoft State & Local Government announced the release of a new public sector media directory Gov2Social.
- GovLoop, “Project of the Week: Gov2Social” -- Throughout the year, GovLoop will be featuring projects and people from among our 2010 Partners. This week's Project of the Week is brought to you by Microsoft, sponsors of our Cloud Computing Topics Page, making it easier for you to find content on that key subject.
- OhMyGov!, “Microsoft births a Social Media directory for gov” -- Microsoft State and Local Government (SLG) has created a social media directory for state and local governments called Gov2Social.
- B to B, “Microsoft announces Gov2Social at ‘BtoB' breakfast” -- Microsoft Corp. this morning unveiled Gov2Social, a Web site where visitors can find state and local government officials using social media.
